Coach Patrick Walsh
Coach Walsh had great direction from his parents growing up. They taught him at a young age that success in all areas of life, including sports, goes through the classroom. Coach always excelled in the classroom from a young age through his graduation from his Masters Degree program in 2004. His most proud accomplishment was when we was selected to be the 1993 Class Valedictorian of De La Salle. This proves that Coach Walsh knows how to get it done both on the field and in the classroom!

Thank you so much for the nice message. To say Zack thoroughly enjoyed your camp is putting it mildly; he loved every aspect of it. It was a phenomenal experience for him, and I know he learned a lot. He was quite disappointed when it came to an end, and he can’t wait to participate again next year! Thank you for running such a great program!

Coach Walsh was started his coaching career as a student assistant at the University of Texas in 1996, coaching running backs, one of whom was Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams. Walsh then spent three years coaching running backs and linebackers at his alma mater, De La Salle High School in Concord, under the tutelage of football coaching legend Bob Ladouceur. He had the opportunity to Coach D.J. Williams (Denver Broncos), Maurice Jones-Drew (Jacksonville Jaguars) Matt Guiterrez (Kansas City Chiefs), Kevin Simon (Washington Redskins), and Atari Callen (Cal Bears).
In 2001, at 26 years old, Coach Walsh accepted the head coaching position at Serra High School and is now entering his 11th year as the Head Football Coach for the Padres. In his previous nine seasons, the Padres have compiled a record of 67-44-1. The Padres qualified for the Central Coast Section playoffs for the 8th time in nine years. Coach Walsh's teams have set numerous school and league records including the WCAL records for most yards of total offense in a season, and most rushing yards in a season. Several of Walsh's players have gone on to play at the collegiate level at such schools as:
The core values, summer conditioning program, chapel services before game days, and a rotating team dinner tradition are the staples of Coach Walsh's Serra Football program. The Core Values of Commitment, Brotherhood, Competition, Personal Accountability and Work Ethic are preached on a daily basis at Serra and through all Next Level programs.
Coach Walsh was a 2 sport athlete all the way through his playing career which began as a young kid. Throughout his life he concentrated on playing baseball and football. Football began for Coach Walsh when he started to get too many yellow and red cards on the soccer field as a 10 year old. His parents though football might be a better Fall Sport for him. Coach played football for the San Ramon Valley T-Birds for four seasons prior to entering De La Salle High School.
Thanks to you coach Walsh - my kids had a very positive and fun experience. I really noticed your positive attitude and appreciated your personal touch with each kid at camp. Thanks again!

At DLS Coach Walsh was the California High School Player of the Year in 1992, scoring a school record 38 touchdowns, and rushing for 2,029 yards in the 1992. Coach compiled over 4,000 yards and 70 touchdowns in his 3 years on Varsity. His teams went 38-1 over a 3 year span. The one loss in 1991 was the spark that led Coach Walsh and his brothers to set the tone in 1992 for a winning streak that lasted 11 years and 151 games at De La Salle. Of all of the things accomplished at De La Salle Coach Walsh is most proud that his team started the famous De La Salle Streak. Group accomplishments (Brotherhood) have always meant more to Coach than individual accolades. Coach was also a 3 time 1st team All League Baseball Player for the Spartans which earned him the opportunity to earn a scholarship in football to San Jose State University AND play baseball at the Division 1A Level.
Coach Walsh played four years of football and three years of baseball on a full scholarship at San Jose State University. He then transferred to the University of Texas-Austin (Hook ‘em Horns!) where he finished his degree and played one year of baseball for Championship baseball coach Auggie Garrido. He was one of two players that started every game for the 1997 Longhorn Baseball team.
Coach Walsh is married to Lindsay (an Austin, TX native) and has two young boys William and Charles. You will definitely see them running around the Next Level and Serra playing fields!
